Borderlands 4 - Preview and Gameplay (Sector)

Borderlands 4 will not bring a revolution to the series, nor does it promise to do so. The developers have promised to include everything that players have loved since 2009. Everything just now is richer, better, bigger, crazier and more beautiful.

Borderlands 4 system requirements too high for 50% of Steam users, according to hardware survey

With a requirement for an 8-core CPU at a minimum, plenty of Steam users are going to be left out by Borderlands 4's system requirements.

Tacoboto3d ago

So it's roughly equivalent to Doom The Dark Ages (which has one tier higher CPU minimum but one tier lower GPU minimum)

But it looks like how it does. Getting this game day one is certainly gonna be a choice regardless of price.

True fans will buy it though! (regardless of whether it actually runs or not ;P )

True fans will spend hundreds to upgrade just to play the game.

So the minimum is a system that is comparable to the PS5 and Series X, while the recommended specs require a high end PC containing an RTX 3080 or better. I understand making the best game you can possibly make, but we don't have access to PC GPUs like we did in the past. The game will have an uphill battle.

ZycoFox2d ago

Those requirements are actually pretty tame, if anything it just shows that at least half of Steam users don't want to keep their PC up to date every few years.

There's probably a bunch of Steam accounts using bare basic office type computers like Dell Optiplex, which is fine for low end gaming and office work.

There are some much better mid range options on GPUs at the moment regarding pricing, which has been long overdue.

High end options have been expensive for a little while now though.

DivineHand1252d ago

An old dell optiplex is not playing this game in an enjoyable way. The game requires a GPU with 8Gb vram at a minimum. This is basically a PC with an rtx xx70 series or higher.

ill wait half a year to a year before i get it.

im a fan, but i know the games are ... riddled with bugs and glitches whenever they launch

Doom the dark ages also listed 8 core minimum but it actually runs very well on 6 core CPUs

A quick Google and you'll see that it runs on a 6 core CPU from 2019

Borderlands 4 will be no different
